Training is going well... they're learning!

I thought I'd have a little fun this post.
Here's my self-portrait of me at the laptop. Man, I can get away with just about anything. Although, they're getting pretty good at catching me leaving them a present on the rug! Dave has a "hissy fit" but Pat always seems to understand and lets me get away with it.
.....after all, I am just a puppy!

We were riding someplace in the car and Dave thought he saw "Dumbo" in the clouds." Whoever that is!
Dave took me to meet this guy named Jack. He's really nice too. I got to ride in his lap. I think he knows things about dogs. We sat outside and I got to sniff around. Boy, there sure are a lot of doggy smells in that place. I had to sniff just about every inch of the edge of the road we walked!

They took me to this doggy store and I can't believe what they bought me....
I'm five months old and I'm a "jail-bird!"
Now, is this the face of a criminal?
I guess there are some places they want to keep me from running around. It's not all that bad, at least I'm in the same room with Dave and Pat.

You're going to love this story. I don't know what Dave and Pat think I'm doing but I love sitting on my "doggy" and riding him. They start laughing when I do this but its great fun and I get a lot of exercise.

I tell you Dave really knows how to get me going when we play. He makes "Bobo" pop up all over the place. I just can't help myself, I love scrapping to find "Bobo." Hey I was bred to hunt rats in tunnels, these stuffed play buddies have met their match!

But sometimes my age gets the better of me. Actually, Dave's a lot older than me so I give him a break by looking like I'm napping.

But, every now and then, I take a peek to see when he's napping!

Ahhhhhhh, I get into all these poses to let them see how cute I can be!

But something else very special happened a day or two ago. Dave's phone rang one evening and I could hear the voice talking. It was so familiar to me. I'm sure it was Becky! Her voice brought back sooooo many fun memories. They talked for a long time. She wanted to hear about all the things I was learning and experiencing.

Gee, I had so much fun with my Mom, Haley and Becky.

I miss my Mom and Becky.

I know I'll see them again some time.

Between sitting on Pat's lap and Dave Playing with me, I just need to get some "me time!"

...and here...

Oh now this is really cool. Pat and Dave took me someplace where Pat left and Dave took me for this really terrific walk. We parked behind this big building with a cross on it and I got to walk all around
and check out all the new sniffing ground. I chased about two dozen of those lizard things. Darn, if I wasn't tied to Dave I'd catch my share of those things. I'm really quick! They get away from me on the hard surfaces but when they hit the grass, I'm on 'em!
Then we walked down this path and there was this big animal walking right across our path.
Dave took a couple of pictures of this thing. Dave's camera gave off a big light and it made the animals eyes look really scary! I think he told Pat we saw a deer.

I tell ya, Dave is easy. No matter what position I get into he points this clicky thing at me. So, I might as well give him a cute look. If he only knew what I was thinking!

He must have thought I was a good doggy, he was going to let me try moving the car!

All in all, today was a really good day! I watched Dave and Pat (from my barred prison cell) clean all these windows in this strange part of the house. Dave took me outside on this thing I was tied to that I could go far away and still be connected to Dave. That was kinda neat. It's much better than that short rope thing they tie me on! Then we played a lot.

.....and I topped it off by peeing on their carpet!

Yep, it was a good day!

My tail (oops) tale of whoa!

Gee, you people use so many words and this "spell checker" thingy is really frustrating! My doggie friends don't use so many words. We basically use one word, "bark!" Us doggies just know how to use that one word to our advantage! My Mom, "Haley" taught me all the words I need to know. Its so easy, it's all in the tone! Since I've been around people they say all kinds of things to me. Its fun teasing people with our facial expressions and head tilts! They really think they have it all over us doggies! You see, we can get our wishes by our bark tones and our eyes! Oh sure, we doggies know words like our name, come, sit, wanna go out, go for a ride and of course that dreaded word, NO!
If you really want to see people react to us just fake a squat on their new carpet! Or, just go to any door and look down at the corner of it! Man, they really dig that one!  But I digest, I mean digress!

It's been a tough week for me. First Pat and Dave took me to the doggie doctor. I think it was for a check up that has something to do with this spaying thing they talk about. Anyway, the doggie doctor, who's really nice, until she gave me a needle in my shoulder and squirted these yucky things down my throat. I don't know what that was all about but the needle got my attention! I was tough though, I didn't make a sound but I couldn't hold back my mean look at her. Everything was going along just fine until about late afternoon. I don't know what hit me but I got weak and didn't want to play at all. I didn't want to go out or anything. I managed to get some comfort when Pat held me in her lap until early the next morning.

Dave tried all kinds of things to get me to play but I just couldn't do anything. They took me back to the doggie doctor and I heard them talking about a reaction to one of those things they gave me. Boy, that was no fun at all. Now I'm having some trouble going potty but I feel much better. I didn't feel like eating so Pat tried putting this funny white stuff in my bowl. It looked like tiny chunks of some kind of meat with these little white things that looked like insects with no legs. I think they called it chicken and rice. I liked the chunky stuff but those other things just got stuck in my lips and gums.

This is how special I am.....

Funny though, later in the evening, Pat put some gooey stuff in my bowl with those things and it was pretty good. It was like some sort of watery flavored thing.

Pat took me back to the doggie doctor only to give me these other things to squirt down my throat. I think they said something about a de-wormer! At least these taste pretty good. I feel pretty good now and even went to doggie school yesterday!

I'm the hit of PetSmart! Man, I take over that place when I walk in! People turn and look at me. Kids are making all these cool sounds at me, but the other dogs really take notice! I fearlessly strut down the aisles and even the big dogs take notice. Although there was this one (smaller than me) dog in this guys arms  who was going to tear anyone apart who came near him. I think he was a Chihuahua!

It was time for my training class! I love Mary, my trainer! I make her laugh. I think she really likes me. I do what she tells me and she has these really neat treats that she gives me when I do something!
Unlike Coco, I sit pretty after Mary gives me a command, after all I am a Lady.

....and then there's Coco!

It's just me and Coco in our class. Coco and I get along pretty good but she's kinda goofy. When Mary gives her a command, instead of sitting she flops spread eagle on the floor. But, she still gets her treat!
I had to "get in her face" this training session. She's so goofy she bounces around and I finally had enough and "dressed" her down.

Take that you bundle of fluff!

I've had a tough week but I'm doing much better and making Pat and Dave laugh a lot... and I like that.

But best of all Pat knows how to make me feel really good.....

NEWS FLASH... I'll never understand people! Pat is all excited and happy and all I did was poop! It's only been two days since my last one. Honestly, I'll never understand people, you're so easy to please!

Till next time.....

Finally! They let me at the computer!

Wow! It seems like forever since I moved into this bigger house that doesn't move with Pat and Dave. I'm keeping them busy. Just about every two hours I've got them hooking me up to this cord and bringing me outside. I like going outside but the grass down here is really stiff and hard for my little legs to run in. They keep saying to "go potty," whatever that means! Anyway its so much easier and quicker for me to wet and poop in the house. Hey, its easy for them to find it and clean it up. Outside they have to follow me around with a bag. Now that's funny!

Let's see, they've got me going to this place where someone named Mary talks loud and sometimes takes my cord and has me do these different things. I don't really understand their words but they keep using some words over and over so maybe I'll learn them sometime. I'm getting to know a couple of words so far..."leave it!" Sometimes they use it really loud. Once I had to talk back to them. You know I don't really understand them. I hear, "Lilly" blah, blah blah blah, leave it! I had to give it right back to them... I yelled; hey leave me alone I'm a puppy!. You know what? They probably only heard, "Bark, bark bark bark bark bark, bark!" They really need to learn dog speak!

They keep doing something with this thing that flashes at me. I'll attach a few of these things to this blog. I think they think I'm cute!
I wish they wouldn't point that thing at me, my eyes go fuzzy on me when they do that!
Oh, this is my doggie and next to me is my chew bone they got me. The bone has a good taste but its like plastic and just when I get a good chunk off it, Dave takes it into the garage and I hear this funny noise. When he gives it back to me its all smooth! What's with that?

Anyway, I think I'm going to some sort of school. They're using these words over and over again. Now they added a tasty treat when they take me outside. I don't get it, I have to take a pee or poop and when I'm done all I have to do is look up and they give me a tasty treat! That's cool! Funny, they don't give me a treat when I pee or poop on their rug. I'll just have to keep trying. I'll get them trained soon enough.

Now they're taking me out for rides! Get this, I've got my own "bucket seat!"
I sat in it for them. It was comfortable but its got these long straps and I don't know why I'd need those.
It wasn't long before I found out what this thing is really for!
Its for taking me in the car! It doesn't have anything to do with my comfort!
Ya, they set me in this thing and click my harness to it. I have fun twisting all around driving Pat crazy while she's driving. Now, I've got Pat sitting in the back seat and I get the front seat with a view! Once in a while I hear one of them say something about "driving Ms Daisy.! Whatever that means.
Boy, I was really trying to tell Pat to let me out! She thought I was smiling and laughing.
Maybe if I look more serious they'll get the message....
That didn't help!

Gee one day this past week, Pat came out of the bedroom wearing this red and black outfit and I heard her say something about work. Then, she walked out the door! Oh man, I didn't know what to do! Dave was just sitting in his chair and he's not as comfortable to sit with so I did what all good pets do.....
I got into my sad look and waited by the door.
Dave tried to get me to cheer up but I just didn't want to be cheered up....
...so I turned my back on him and sat on Pat's foot stool!

All I could think about was the nice walks Pat takes me on and how well I relax when I'm in her chair.
But later that night she came back! That was so much fun. Now I get it, they must go some place to for a time and come back to see how I react. Well, I'll give them a show because they must need it!
Today we went to a place called "Best Friends Pet Care! They had dogs in cages and some seemed sad. It smelled good but I was held by a girl I didn't know while Dave and Pat went in to see the cages with the dogs. I heard them talking about cages with TVs and fans and air conditioning. I don't know what was going on but if they think they're going to leave me there they've got another thing coming!
I'll just have to show them by leaving more pee and poop on the floor!

So now they keep talking about October 8! I don't know what "spaying" means but I intend to find out!
In the mean time I'm taking Pat's chair! Dave's got his own!

Oh my God, Oh my God, they left me alone!

They left me alone not once but two times today! The first time was funny! But the second time seemed much longer! I held it in both times but I'm planning my pay back tonight! I got them up each night so far since we got to this big house.

The first time they left me I should have seen it coming. My hard crate was in the front part of this hall way by the door. Then, they put this contraption in my way so I didn't have the run of the house.
Then, they shut the door and left me. I thought, OK this is fun, we'll play hide-n-seek! But they didn't come back! I didn't know how long they were gone but it sure was lots of fun when they opened that door. I was jumping all over the place. Pat took me out and I made her work. I zipped back and forth and jumped in the grass and she had all she could do to keep up with me.

After that they put me in this quiet moving thing for another ride! Just what I need. We went to this wild and crazy place with all kinds of dogs, cats and birds that were barking and really noisy. I think they called it PetSmart! Those pets sure didn't sound smart to me! They looked at a couple of things and we left. Home once again.

But, you know what, they did it again! They set me up in the pen and mumbled something about church and out the door they went. I think they were gone longer this time. I went through all the same greeting stuff and made them feel better about leaving me. I have an awful feeling about this leaving me stuff!

They just took me out late at night. I found a dead something like a tiny lizard and thought I'd have a snack but Dave pulled it out of my mouth. Then there were all kinds of stuff crawling or jumping that I just had to check out.

But tonight, is payback time! I'll let you know my plans later!

Here's a follow-up to yesterday! I got Dave up at 3:00 a.m. He jumped right up and took me out. Then the fun began! I teased him and peed right away. I made him walk me up and down the street
but I wasn't giving up, no pooping on this outing!
Then at 5:30 a.m. it was Pat's time! I gave her a break and went pee and poop right away!
I like Pat better!

Just Call Me "Lilly!"

I remember lots of darkness and being really warm. Suddenly, I felt this squeezing on my sides and then there was light, lots of light! I was the first of three pups born to my Mom, "Hailey." I found out later that, Becky (our owner) had to help me being born. I'm really thankful for that! We were owned by a wonderful Amish family. "Rosie" is actually my Mom's owner. But, I don't see her a lot. For most of my first four months two awesome people, Becky and Abner took care of me. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

There was "Tiger," "Emma" and me, "Lilly." We were born in the beginning of May. We had a grand time with our owners. They took great care of us. Although, the trips to the vet could have been more fun.

One day, "Tiger" left our family. A couple of nice people were at our owners home and suddenly he was gone. I didn't care, more food and rubs for "Emma" and me. A few more weeks went by and "Emma" found a family to live with. I didn't care, more food, and rubs and I get to play with my Mom all by myself. Boy, I can rough her up like you wouldn't believe!

Mom and I play really hard together!

One day, a couple of humans visited our home and I was taken away to a strange place. I didn't feel good. I got sick and they took me to a vet. I missed Mom, Becky and Abner and of course Rosie. I was really home sick. (My plan worked!) In two weeks the people returned me to my Mom and Becky and Abner. Ya know, I started to feel better right away!

You'll never guess what happened one day. Four people dropped in to say hi to Becky and Abner and they played with me a lot! There was Dave and Pat and Buzz and Darlene. Dave and Pat and Darlene seemed to know a lot about dogs. They were really nice. I felt right at home in their laps and they know just how to scratch and pat all the right places. Their voices were inviting and I felt right at home with them. Buzz was nice but he spoke to Darlene about how "Winston" might be upset if he handled me. I don't know what that means but I'm sure I'll find out!
Pat and Darlene were really nice to me!

But, I think Pat really likes me more than Darlene!
You need to remember that I'm a puppy and puppies know just how to be cute!!!

Pat and Dave and my owner, Becky talked sort of business like (I think) because Darlene played with me while they talked. Oh well. They all left and  I didn't care because there was more food and rubs and I get to play with my Mom all by myself!

It seemed a little while went by and Dave and Pat visited with Becky and Abner once again. This time something was different. They had something in their hands that I had never seen before. It was red and long. Dave had this funny looking red thing that the two of them were (what felt like) wrestling me into. One of them gently put my front paws into that thing and the other clicked it over my shoulders. I think they called it a harness! It itched and felt loose. It didn't feel as loose as the harness that Becky put on me. (Gee, now I know why Bechy put a harness on me... to get me ready for what was to come!) I'm not very big you know so I had fun twisting out of this contraption more than once! But Pat and Dave figured that out and made it tighter on me! Then, they clicked this other thing on me and actually began to lead me out of the house and into a funny white thing that made noise and took me away.

I didn't have time to say goodbye to my Mom! Becky was kind of sad and happy at the same time. Pat was really nice and I got to sit in her lap until we went to this little house they had. They made me feel right at home. We were so close together. I mean really. Living at Becky and Abner's home I had this great house and big yard to run in. Now, I'm in this small house and need to be tied to either Pat or Dave when I go out. I really don't mind though, now I get ALL the food, rubs and I get to play with both people all by myself!

I know one thing, they sure gave me some neat puppy stuff!

My first night I was really quiet. I slept on the floor in this new bed just in front of Pat and Dave's bed. I made it through the night because Becky gave me my very own blanket and doggy toy!
Pat and Dave made me feel right at home. I made sure I'd give a good impression. I'd go outside and sleep right through the night!
Here's my "devil" face! I had to let them know who's in charge! You can also see my blanket, doggy toy and new bed. I don't know what they planned to do with the bucket! Anyway, I made myself right at home in their tiny home!

I had an awesome surprise the next day. Pat and Dave brought me every where in there car. Best of all they brought me back to see my Mom and Becky! What a grand time. They let me off their leash and I took off running with my Mom in Becky's big yard. I caught sight of a bunny running and I was off. I thought I had him for sure but he was much faster than me. He was lucky!

We had a great time that day. We went to other places and I got to meet "Deb" who owns a Fudge Shop. She was really nice. Everywhere we stopped and I got out, Dave would take me for a walk and I got to hear, see and smell so many new things.

The next three days were scary and yet exciting as well. This little house we were in moved! It made lots of noise and rocked a lot but I was snug and comfortable in Pat's lap the entire three days. Actually, I didn't want to get Pat upset but there were a few times I just wanted to get into my comfy bed on the floor. They were great. They let me out many times and wow what smells I explored. Little did I know we were going for such a long ride! I'm used to short rides to a vet. (Which I rather not talk about!)

And boy what places to see.
Can Dave pick a bigger animal for me to pose with?
There was this "camping cat" that wanted to be my friend.
He walked right up to Dave and Pat's tiny home and sat on our picnic table. I didn't have anything to do with him!

I was making myself right at home for the long ride.

I heard the camera and I thought I'd give Dave a "cute" pose!

They tried to wake me to see this funny looking place.

But we made it and they let me run into this much bigger home! Funny though, when I went outside their little home and walked before going into their bigger home I was much hotter than I was living with my Mom!

But I can really stretch my legs! They have really soft floors that I just love rolling and playing on. I've got two tiny "caves" to go in and out of as well. (I think they call them crates!) Best of all I can sit and snuggle on either of their laps whenever I want!
Oh yeah! Tearin' up the rug! Opps, just kidding, it's my doggy toy!

My first day in their house made me a little nervous after all the riding and strange places I saw. I had a few accidents but Pat and Dave were very understanding and I'll try real hard to do what I'm told.

They drove me to a place called "PetSmart." The people I met were really nice to me. We talked with someone named Kathy about grooming. (Whatever that is.) I gulped just a little bit when I heard the word vet mentioned! Then they bought me a couple of more things. One of them was this really tasty treat that looked like tiny steaks! Get this, they even talked about brushing my teeth, funny huh!

I can't go outside without being tied to Pat or Dave. They talk about something called "predators" whatever that means. That's OK because I feel ten feet tall when I'm tied to Dave or Pat. I'm ready to attack any dog I see. Although, I did see something that really caught my attention, and I was barkless. This tiny thing with four legs a long tail and really skinny. I thought I heard Dave call it a gecko! I'm on the hunt now! The only problem is their grass isn't as short as I'm used to. I have to jump from time to time to get around in it.

Well, I'm settling in and I really like the way I'm being treated. I kinda miss my Mom and Becky but I heard Dave tell Becky about something he was going to do to keep me in their thoughts. But I thought I'd beat Dave to the punch and start my own Blog! I hope you'll follow along with me!

I've got the best seat in the house!

See you next time!
