Exploring, a haircut and a party!

I think I'm getting a handle on what's going on in this house with Dave and Pat. As hard as I try I have to live by their schedule. I gave up waking Dave up at two or three in the morning. I was beginning to feel bad for him. They have me on a structured schedule for walks and feeding times. Its not all that bad. I'm pretty active, Dave plays with me lots of times during the day and I get to snuggle with Pat a lot! And I really like that.

The best part of my day is what happens just after I get Dave up. He takes me out for my walk and then when we go back in the house, I make a bee-line to Pat's side of the bed. I bark and jump at the bed until she gets up. Then she picks me up and takes me to her chair so I can snuggle on her thick, soft house coat. I'm nice and warm and really comfy. Lately, Pat's been playing tricks on me by getting on the couch and covering up. But I can easily hunt her down. And that's my mornings!

During my walks there's so much to explore! Everything is new to me.

Dave almost got me up close to see this gator in the pond behind our house. He is really cool... and fast. This guy burst into the water when we got just a little closer. Dave doesn't let me walk on the sand part of the water's edge. Judging from the splash of jumping into the water this guy made,  I really don't want to be any closer to the water!
(We didn't get this close to the gator. Dave did something on the computer to make you think he is really brave!)
Today, I heard Dave tell the story about the swan in the front of the picture. He said that he, Bill and Little Buzz watched this swan for a week before they learned is was plastic!

Ahhhhh, me time! And Dave thought I was never going to get on this big couch! Pat let's me, so there.

Dave just put this in because I was afraid to jump over all the dirt and stuff. (Darlene thinks Dave did this for her!)

What are those giant birds doing? They better not get near this screen.

I am the protector! The "Watch Dog!" After all I surely can stare something down! And if that doesn't work, I'll bark their ear drums off!

Man, can't they make anything in this house for me to see out into the yard without having to do my "prairie dog" stance?

Darn, false alarm. I thought I'd have to go into action.

How do you like my new hair cut?

I'm getting all kinds of pats and compliments.

I think this is my best picture. I had to stand long enough for Dave to take it!
Someone said, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!"

Pat was really funny. She put me into this zipper bag and carries me around the house. They must have been amused because they both had a good laugh!

I think they were having fun at my expense. I found out why they spent so much time with me this morning. They had a party in the afternoon and I wasn't invited! Actually, I was fenced in the bedroom with all my toys. Boy, I had a lot to say about that. But after a dozen barks or more they didn't come for me so I took advantage of the soft carpet and stretched out. They made a lot of noise so at least I knew they were home. Darn, I wanted to be part of the party!

About half way into the party Pat came and got me and boy I was the talk of the party. Almost everyone came over to me to say hi. I was super excited! I was the center of attraction! Pat wouldn't let me down on the floor. There was so many people even I was afraid I'd get stepped on. I was happy to settle in on Pat's lap.... or Darlene's..... or Rose's!

It's been a busy and exciting day. I felt really special today and got to meet a lot of good people who know how to pat me. Dave and I had some play time while Pat took Darlene home and now that Pat's home, I know my job is over for the night.

As Darlene and Pat say, "night, night!"

Ridin' along in my automobile....

I travel in style!  I love being strapped into my very own "bucket" seat. I feel like "Rin, Tin, Tin!"
Here we goooooooo!

Come on Dave put the "pedal to the metal!" Lets see what this thing can do.

Hmmmm, Dave thinks he's pretty cool driving.

 Gee, another stop light?

 Come on, open the window!

Ahhhhh, window open, crusin', how great is this!

 The "Twilight zone!"

OK, lets go home, I'm board.

I'm having trouble getting internet time!

It seems whenever I want to post to my blog, someone's on the computer! Grrrrrrr! Now I finally get a chance to bark to the rest of the world.

Everything is new to me. There's soooo much to sniff and chase I feel like I'm in another world down here in Florida. It's also getting rather exciting for someone my size. Just last week something big and black flew down and tried to get me. Dave was talking to Pat and he was talking about this thing called a Turkey Vulture taking a dive toward me. Boy he would have been in for one big fight... to quote someone in a movie, "I'll snap his neck!" Funny though, the next day, Dave took me for a walk and he kept looking up at this bird, I think a hawk, whatever that is. Dave watched this bird on the top of a lamp pole for all the time we were out there. Then all of a sudden he was gone. Boy, you really gotta watch out down here. I guess at just under five pounds Dave and Pat don't think I can take care of myself.

I've had my stitches out. Just in time too. They were getting itchy and I was getting tired of Dave and Pat pushing my head away from the stitches so I could make the itch go away! I tell ya that Vet place gives me the willies! To top it off I had to go back because I had to be wormed. What's with that! UGH! I got this nasty needle, but I wasn't about to whimper. I took it like a lady. I even gave the Doctor a dirty look.

Now they're trying something new on me. They're (dare I say) sending me to DOGGY DAY CARE! Boy, yelping dogs all around me. They left me so they could go to a park and eat. Sure, they leave me with strangers and a screaming dog right next to me! I will say though, the people who handled me were really nice. But I didn't waist any goodby's on them when Pat and Dave came to get me.... eight hours later. OK, so you don't think that's so bad? They did it again the very next day. This time Pat had Dave drop me off. I guess she couldn't take my "LOOK" I gave them from the night before. At least Dave picked me up before dark and then he took me out to the back yard of this place and let me OFF the leash. Wow, that was great. I think they call this place "Best Friends Pet Care." It was nice and clean and the people really were good to me. I guess its not all that bad. I have a feeling that I'll more than likely be there again.

I'm giving Dave and Pat less hassle with potty training. I let them sleep at least six hours now. Its really fun, I get Dave up first. He takes me out and when I go back in I make a bee-line to Pat's side of the bed. I wake her up and then she takes me to her chair and I get to cuddle in her soft robe for about an hour or so. Who said training people is all that hard?

They give me this funny soft rubbery thing to play with and then they shove a tasty treat in the darn thing. What kind of dirty trick is this? I had to really dig to get that treat.

They had these two nice people over and I put the charm on. They didn't stand a chance. I had Angela melting and all I had to do was look cute. Bob was a push-over as well. They even gave me a couple of new toys that I love.

Pat takes me for lots of walks down the street. I'm the little "dot" next to her feet on the sidewalk.
I can't get over all the new smells down here. There's also the funny green things that just sit there and let me stare them down. Dave calls them frogs. They gotta be the dumbest things ever.
But they also have these tiny lizards that run real fast, but I'm going to catch one soon enough.

Oh, I've been loosing teeth like crazy. They itch and make me drool. YUK! I'll be glad when I finally have all my new teeth. Don't tell Dave but I'm going to try them out on him. He likes to play rough with me and I can "play bite" him.... but someday......
Anyway, here's one of my baby teeth.

Ah, I had a terrific run out back today. Dave let's me run on the long leash and I go crazy.

This is my "Prairie Dog" stance. Hey, I'm short, give me a break!

And this is my guard dog stance...

But there's nothing like going back into the house getting a few pats and rubs and
then settling down for a nap! This my best position!

What do you expect... its a dog's life!

What the??????

Things are a little different from the last time I posted on my blog.

First off I got to meet and greet a couple of local Sand Cranes. Boy, it's a good thing Dave kept me from jumping these two. They were noisy and I had to out-bark them.

Being so short I had to stand on my toes to make myself look bigger. They just weren't moving as fast as I liked.
I escorted them off our property and told them to leave our screens alone! In case you don't know it, these birds like to poke at the insects behind our screens in the lanai. Last week I helped Pat and Dave clean all the windows. It was my job to keep these buggers away. I had a really big job. I can just barely see over the sills so I had to bounce up and down while barking. Dave and Pat said I did a great job because we didn't see them all weekend!

Later in the week the bottom fell out! I didn't know what hit me. I thought I was going for a ride with Pat. I knew something was up when another lady carried me away and Pat left me. Then, these two strangers with masks on handled me and even stuck me with something that really stung. I don't remember much but I woke up feeling really different. Pat and Dave were not there. I was being handled by someone else but she was nice but I didn't feel like myself.
It wasn't until the next day when I was carried out to meet Pat and Dave. Boy, I'm glad Pat left me with my blanket. That made things a little better.
I didn't feel like moving very much and they made me as comfortable as they could.

Then what! Here I am not feeling so good and they put me in jail! They wouldn't let me jump up on their laps or hold me in their arms. Gee, what did I do to deserve this?
They patted and talked to me so differently. Their voices were calming but everything was different.

My belly was really itchy. I had these scratching things that were stuck in my tummy. I tried to soothe the itchies by licking them but Pat and Dave kept discouraging me from doing that. I finally gave up and licked the area a little lower. Funny, they didn't seem to mind that as much!

All I wanted was a little privacy.

After a few days I let them take a picture of my belly. I guess it made them feel a little better.

I guess I really needed some rest. That's all I did for several days. They wouldn't let me jump or run.
But, when I felt a little better I drove them crazy by doing a few of my running crazy acts!

Things are getting better each day. I think I'll be going to have these itchy things taken out of my belly. I don't know what this whole thing was about but I'm glad it's almost over....
and things can get back to normal.

What! Pat and Dave just went nuts looking at one of my poops.......

I got worms!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

I are a Graduate!

Alright my friends, let's have a little respect for the graduate... ME!
Ya, Coco and I passed with flying colors, even though I don't return anything to Pat and Dave or that I don't come when called. I'm going to keep some semblance of just who is in charge for a while longer.

I frustrated my trainer, Mary by giving her a difficult time putting that silly looking hat on my head! She poked me in the eye so I just made it all the more difficult for her to accomplish the task.

Now, how can I get any respect when she puts my hat over my eyes!

Phew, that was tough. You can tell by the look on my face, I didn't like being in the dark! I should have bit her when I had the chance.

Then, Mary tried to get me to do some more commands... reluctantly, I gave in... man I just can't refuse those treats!

I did have fun giving my buddy, Coco a hard time! Man, he's just too easy.

 Stand down you fluff ball!

Come on Mary, count, I've got him pinned!
Boy, that sure was fun... now, I'm ready to take on those two snobby greyhounds that live two houses down from us! Heck, they're not even brave enough to bark back at me when I bark at them!

OK, so now I go home as a "Graduate," whatever that means. I did get another toy and Pat bought some of these funny shaped treats and stuck them into this "Kong" thingy. Man, I really had to work to get this tasty treat out but I'm getting the hang of it!

Pat and Dave had some really nice people stay with us. Their names are Bob and Angela. I played them like a fiddle! I got all sorts of pats and funny laughs out of them and all I had to do was use my eyes and make some funny faces. They even laughed when I walked quickly or ran! We played a lot and I had all of them wrapped around my little paw! People are so easy to please and tease.
But, if I'm that cute, I still don't understand why Dave grumbles so much when I wake him up at 3:00 in the morning!

We all went to this place called Celebration.
Pat, Dave, Bob and Angela sat at this small table and ate while I was stuck on the ground sniffing leaves and stuff! I had some fun with this family that walked up to me and asked if their little girl can pat me. She had this really big hat on and she moved too quickly toward me so I growled and that was that... they moved on! Oh what fun!

Sure, Pat, Dave, Bob and Angela had all the fun and I knew what they were eating was really good. You'd think they could share some with me, but no... they said it wasn't any good for me. Right, so something that smells really sweet is good for them?????

I let them walk me around this big pond so I can sniff all kinds of new things.

I saw so many things I didn't have enough time to see them all!

I had a great time even though I was really tired after all that walking, and I'm ready to do it all again!

....but, maybe I'll wait a day or two!
