I'm back!

Hi to all my "Lilly friends!" I hear that many of you have been asking for me. That's really nice. I've been busy hangin' out with my buddy, Winston. He's cool. I've been showing him around our neighborhood and all the new smells. Boy, he really knows how to sniff out all kinds of things. But he doesn't chase the squirrels like I do. Oh, once in a while he can take off after one but I'm the one treein' them.

It's been cold outside lately. Dave and Pat always put my sweater on and that helps a lot. But to be honest, I like to be warm and cozy curling up in the pillows on the couch...but, I prefer someone's lap.

I like to hang around with Winston. He really likes me. I can tease him and he never gets angry at me. But sometimes he gives me a big growl to let me know when he's had enough. I just give it back to him.

There are times when I can't get into his room. I think it's when he has food in his bowl. I like his food. His chunks of food are bigger. I figured out that if I go under the bed, sneak over to his bowl take a nugget and quietly sneak back under the bed I can enjoy a snack. It's funny Darlene or Pat can't keep track of me so I can get away with a snack quite often. I can't figure out how they know when I'm eating his food. It can't be the noise I make when I crunch his food nugget, I try to crunch with my mouth closed.
But, then they got on to my scheme so now when they leave food in his bowl they shut the door on me!

So I have to resort to sympathy to get back on their good side!

I was looking for some pictures to add and I found these of Winston.

He's a cool dude!
He's just older and I have to teach him all the new things going on.
But sometimes he acts like a kid!
...and that makes me laugh!
I'll have some fun doing crazy stuff with Pat and Dave to see if they will take more pictures of me for my next blog.
See you soon!
Lilly

My Buddy Winston!

Hi Everyone, Everyone's been saying Merry Christmas and Happy New Year so I might as well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

My buddy, Winston is visiting with me and I've been having a ball. Winston is twelve years old. I don't know how old that is in doggy years but I know he can't keep up with me. Although, when we go out he can "out sniff" me. Boy, he really knows how to pick out lots of great smells. He's been teaching me how to sniff and I'm getting really good at it. Just don't tell Pat! She doesn't like when I sniff so close to the ground. But, hey, I have to, I have a really small nose. I can't believe all the stuff Winston taught me about sniffing. Although, there is one thing I notice about Winston, nearly everything that's vertical he pee's on! Mail boxes, trees, twigs that fall from the trees and grass!
I don't know where he get's all the water. Wait a minute! I do know. He has a big water bowl and after he finishes his, he gulps the water out of my tiny bowl.

I really like getting him to chase me. He's bigger than me so I can scurry under things really quickly. I can also out maneuver him around the furniture. He can only take my taunting for a few minutes then he needs a nap. I think it's because he's older. He's really strong though. I have to watch out if he catches me with one of his paws. Dave always scolds him when he scratches the mulch after he pees. Dave says it's like him throwing a bucket of mulch on the sidewalk.

I'm sure many of you already know him. I know Dave has talked about him in his blog. If you don't know him, I'll add some pictures of him for you.

I really like when Dave takes me out to the screen room. Since Winston's been visiting, he lets him come out there with me. But Winston doesn't know what to do out there. He's not very quick to chase lizards and even squirrels. Oh, he chases squirrels pretty good when I lead the hunt. And, I have to admit he can run pretty quick but once they go up the tree he forgets about them. Me, on the other hand, I like to make sure they go up the tree and stay there.

When I go out to the screen room the first thing I do is check out the usual areas for lizards.
I don't think Winston has a clue to what I'm doing.
I know the lizards hide under this tank thing.
(Winston thinks more about the smells that are on the tank.)
I think he may be getting hard of hearing so I have to get him to look at me so I can teach him some of my tricks.
Now look at that sad face. Does that look like a hunter or a doggy who wants to be with his Mommy?

Here Winston, lets try this again. This time you be ready for the lizard to run.
Darn Winston, you let him get away!

Gee Winston, you're not paying attention.

OK, I give up. We're back in the house and all Winston wants is a cookie.

You wanna hear something funny? The other day Pat and Darlene went out and Dave was getting ready for work. Winston and I knew he'd have to take us out before he left so we decided to hide under his nose so he couldn't leave without taking us out.
We hid under Dave and Pat's bed. He'd never see us!

(How the heck did he see us?)

OK, now I'm ready for my nap

 I guess Winston is too.

This will give me time to think of new ways I can twist our leashes when Dave or Pat take the two of us out for our walks.

See you next time!

I thought I'd never get back to the laptop!

Hi to all my "Lilly Friends" out there! I've been trying to get to my Blog but Dave and Pat got another computer and they're afraid I'll mess it up stumbling around the keyboard with my fury paws. But I"m back! OK, there's not so much new but I am getting better at chasing squirrels and little lizards. Topping it off, Pat is letting me grow my hair out! Wow, what a difference, and everyone is treating me like I'm an "adult." Check this out....

I just love what they've done with my hair! But, what's with the bow or thingy they put in a pet's head after you get a doggy hair cut?

Do I look any older to you guys?

It's still the same old me. I still like to check out what I can "sniff out" in the grass. No one believes me but I can sniff out a lizard when they jump into the grass.
Whoa, what's that? Hold on gotta check this out.
Just a squirrel and I treed him, nothing to see here.

Now this is really big news. I've reached the peak of being a pet. I am now allowed on the bed!
This is big news. Pat and Dave (Dave especially) said NO WAY is Lilly getting on our bed!
Ha, my plan worked. It took longer than I thought but I finally made it. All my scratching at the bottom of the bed (on both sides) paid off. They give my my own stairway and up I go into comfort heaven.
Sometimes I get up here and kinda hide so they won't make eye contact with me and make me move.
This is great. I can move all about the bed and cuddle wherever I like. I start out between either Pat or Dave's legs then I move to my own blankie. Boy do I feel like I'm special now.

All of a sudden, the golf cart is gone. Man that was my evening treat all summer. I don't mind because I always get a long walk in the morning and the evening. I just miss the wind in my face as we went all around the streets.

Hunting, that's my favorite thing to do. I'm pretty good at it too. I know I surprised Dave a couple of times when he was shaking the water hose to move the lizards and when one dropped off the hose I caught the tail of one when it dug into the grass.
I know Dave watches me a lot closer now!

Hold it. What was that? I'll get that one next time.
I just love following scent trails.

Aha, my hiding spot. Squirrels can't see me and I can train my tracking skills without them seeing me. Sometimes I think those squirrels are teasing me though. They walk all over the screen and it drives me crazy. But the best fun of all is when Dave quietly (but quickly) opens the door and lets me loose on those guys. Then you can see how "crazy" they go. I love it!
I have to be honest with my loyal readers. I do nap more than you know.
Sometimes all the excitement gets to me and I like to kick back and nap
Sometimes I just like to dream about all my adventures and all the people and doggies I've met.
Sometimes I like to just sit and watch the day go by.
But there's always one thing I like more than anything...
That's when Dave and Pat or one or the other comes home!

I thought you might like to see how I've changed in nearly three years.

I know, I write alot about myself and all the things I like to do...
but hey, after all, it really is all about me!

I've gotta be me!!!!

Hi to all my loyal "lilly" readers! I don't have a lot to tell you about but I am getting on the computer better than I used to. Pat now uses this little flat thing so Dave and I can get on the computer more often. The little flat thing Pat uses is cool. I can even sit in her lap while she uses this thing. Now all I have to do is wait for Dave to give up the computer!

I'm still enjoying my golf cart! There isn't a dog in the entire neighborhood that dares to step onto my golf cart when I'm in the seat! (Well there is one actually, that would be "Nash." He's cool. He really doesn't bother me because he kinda just ignores me as he gets into the golf cart. He doesn't give me any dirty looks so I don't give him a hard time. Dave says I'm like these two guys called Jekyll and Hyde. Whoever, they are!

I've got a great routine. I get to go on a long walk in the morning, several short walks through the day and then either a long walk or a "buggy" ride with Dave in the evening. Oh, and one last quick walk before I go to bed. I think that's for Dave. I think it makes him go potty before he goes to bed!

Whenever I'm out, I'm on duty. I watch for anything moving. There's plenty of squirrels to keep me busy too. Here I am "on guard."

Sure, I have a small nose but I'm a really good tracker.

Sometimes I get "side-tracked" and feel the need to "mark my spot." Hey, other dogs do it!

I'll tell you a secret. Sometimes when Dave takes me for a long walk (and sometimes when I get hot), I slow down and then look up at Dave. I've got him trained to pick me up and carry me so I can rest my legs a little. I'm not picking on him, my legs move three times what his move so why can't I take advantage of him once in a while!

I think Darlene and Buzz will be taking their golf cart back soon. I'm really going to miss it but I'll manage. I'm sure Dave and I will continue to take long walks in the evening before the sun sets. He'll just have to get used to carrying me more!

Until then, I'm going to love my "buggy" rides!

I think I'll hide the golf cart keys when Darlene and Buzz come back!

"I'm the Queen of the World!"

I'm slowly catching on to this computer thing! Dave and Pat let it go to sleep on its own so all I do is give them enough time to go to bed and BAM, I'm on this thing! The only problem is...they now have a new computer. I've been practicing for more than a few nights to get this thing under control.

Anyway, I've finally made it to the big time! I now have the run of the entire house! Except when they go out they close a few doors so I can't go into a few rooms. That's OK because I am now part of the "elite" doggies that get to sleep on their owners bed! That's right, I have my own steps and my own blanky at the bottom of the bed. I get to move all around and snuggle on Pat and Dave's legs and I don't have to wake up Dave anymore to get his attention. I'm so comfortable and I can squeeze close to either one of them and feel nice and secure. Ah, what a dog's life.

Wow, I thought I had a lot of room in my 'nite, 'nite kennel!

I still get to ride in Darlene and Buzz' buggy and I make sure Dave knows when to take me out in it. Some nights it's really rainy so we don't get to ride in it but I always make sure Dave takes me out to see that it is raining so I don't miss out because he wants to go on the computer.

I'm still chasing squirrels and lizards. I don't seem to be catching them but I'm happy when I chase them up the tree.

I'm really waiting for Winston to come back. I can run circles around him, especially in small places. He can't go where I can. I also miss all the people that I visit with Dave and Pat. They are so much fun and I get so many more hugs and snuggles when everyone is here. I think they will be coming back soon, I hope!

Well, I have lots to do so I'll see you next time.

I'm a travelin' pup!

"I'm a travelin' pup
I've made a lot of stops all over the world
And in every port I own the heart
Of at least one lovely pooch!"
(Lyrics by me... and Ricky Nelson!)

Just after all our friends with doggies left for the summer, I began the strangest yet most memorable summer of my life (so far).

I was just beginning to settle in and adjust to the hot sidewalks on my feet and Pat and Dave took me to this place with lots of people moving around and I had no idea what I was about to experience.
At least they didn't take me to the Vets! Ugh! Anyway, this place was cool. Pat took me on this funny moving thing where people stand up. Then we walked into this long thing with lots of seats and people moving about getting into all the seats. Then, Pat stuffed me under her seat! Of all the nerve! I could feel this thing move and get louder. Then all of a sudden I felt like I was going up. After a few minutes, Pat (I kept my cool) lifted me up to her lap. The humility of being stuck under a seat! She put me on her lap and she opened my soft kennel and patted me and that helped a lot. Even the nice lady next to her patted me. I had no idea why she wouldn't take me out of my kennel. With all the funny noise and very little space for a pup to roam I think it was better I stayed in my kennel. Some time later I began to feel something was changing about this thing we were in. Then, once again Pat stuffed me under her seat! I don't like being under a seat like that. In a short time I felt this thud and heard lots of noise. Before I could bark, Pat picked me up and carried me out of this thing. Everything was strange to me. It seems like this place is similar but different than when I got on this thing. Wait, there is Darlene and Buzz! Oh wow, I'm in a happy place! But I don't see Dave. Oh well, I love to crawl all over Darlene and maybe Winston is here. Oh, wait a minute, we got into another car for a ride! What the??? So I did what I do all the time, I crashed on Pat's lap. All of a sudden we were stopping. Wait, I see a house. I can hear a familiar bark. It's Winston wow, this is going to be fun!

My guess is that I was in Winston's house and anything that  is his is mine!!! Oh boy, this is going to be a special vacation place. I investigated all of the house and found where Darlene sleeps. I know where I'll be spending most of my time! This house has something they call stairs. I had fun climbing them but going down was tricky for me. I thought my butt was going to go over my head a couple of times when I go down the steps head first. I thought I heard people laughing when I first went down the stairs. Maybe it was the way my butt was almost straight up in the air when I went down each step. I don't care, I was exploring! On second thought, I'm going to enjoy hangin' with Darlene and catch up on my nap time.

I really liked having my own window to keep a watchful eye for squirrels or other dogs! Top of the sofa was my domain! I'm Queen of the world!

For awhile I forgot all about Dave. I was having fun and doing lots of stuff but things were a little different without Dave scratching me or playing with me. Everyone paid lots of attention to me so I just made the best of it. Although, I must admit, everyone made sure I had the best seat/lap to get comfortable on and I barked at every thing! I guess you can say I made the best of being with all my friends.

I'd play with Winston and (don't tell anyone) but I sneaked lots of his food from his bowl. Pat took me for nice walks with all these new smells. I felt like I was in another world. I think it is called Indiana. Everyone I met was really nice to me but they talk funny!

Before I knew it Pat, Darlene and Buzz put me in the car again and we went for a ride. Do you have any idea where they brought me? Back to that busy place and on the long thing with lots of seats in it!
It seemed exactly like that thing I was moving in when I first came to this place.
After going through that same strange ride, Pat picked me up and walked me down this long place until I saw Dave!

Wow, I didn't know what was going on. Dave carried me and we got into the car and went for another ride. This time, they put me on the floor of a house and everything looked familiar. Wait, there were all my toys and blanket... I must be home! Pat, Dave and I played a little bit, gave me a treat and put me on my blanket and left me! What was that all about! I heard them say something about going to eat! That's great. Welcome home, Bye! Grrrrrrrr!

You know what though, I didn't really mind, I felt so comfortable being on my own furniture and blanket I took a nice nap.

Things got back to normal for me but after a week or so, little did I know I was in for another ride of my life.
I watched as Pat and Dave put things in big bags on the floor. They were even packing my things. What's going on here?

We were going for another ride. Little did I know it was going to be a two day ride. We stopped so I could go potty and stretch my legs. I liked that but I spent all my time on Pat's lap. (Actually, I didn't mind that.)

We got into this place that had some familiar smells. We were in a small house but the best part was that I can easily jump on the bed and Pat and Dave didn't mind! I thought I died and went to heaven!

Once Dave and Pat sat for a short time we got into the car again and this time the ride was very short.

They brought me into this building and a lady I was handed to was really excited to see me. At first she did seem familiar to me. I know! It was Becky the nice lady that brought me into this world. Wow! After meeting her we went off for a little while in this place called Kitchen Kettle and I met another nice lady called Debby. She smelled like candy! I think she makes something called fudge.

After meeting all these really nice people, Pat and Dave took me to Becky and Abner's house. I couldn't believe who I saw...it was my Mom! We didn't really know each other at first but we settled down and had some fun running all over their couch and floors.

I don't look too shocked, do I?

Golly, we really do look alike!

Wait a minute, I remember jumping all over this couch some time ago.

We ran around each other real fast.

That was fun but I'm ready for some me time. Come on Dave take me to see something.

Oh wow! I can't believe this. I've only seen these running away from me, and a lot bigger!

I can actually sniff this little guy out!

Whoa, it smells different down here!

This has been a fun day. I like getting to ride with the window open.

This was a fun visit. I got to see my Mom and Becky. Gee, I have to come back here some time.

We left PA heading for a place called Sunapee, New Hampshire. Dave and Pat's friends George and Judy live there with their dog Koda. Wow, I have never seen such a big dog. All she wanted to do was play! Normally, I love playing but I couldn't play with her! Her head is bigger than me!

Thankfully, we all went out to see some things... but she stayed home!
We had a good time with George and Judy, and even Koda but we soon left to go some place else.

OK, where am I now? I'm with Bill and Angela and I'm enjoying being in their back yard. I don't have to wear my harness or be on a leash, they have a big fence thing and my good friend Maggie and I get to run all over this grass area.

Did I say run all over this yard? Well, we kinda run! From my point of view I have to run to keep up with anyone who walks me!

They have this wood thing that we walk on in their yard. It's really different on my paws.

What a life! It's really nice in the sun. I don't know where I am but it is not as hot as I am when Pat and Dave take me out at home.

After spending lots of days with Bill and Angela I got to meet and have fun with Dawn, Ashley and "Little" Bill and other people who wanted to pat me. That was really nice.

Then, I watched as Dave and Pat put things back into their big bags and before I knew what was happening, we were driving again. Two more days in the car, stops to let me out I was kind of getting tired of all this long time in the car. But, you know what the best part of this entire trip was.....
I got to sleep on the bed with Pat and Dave nearly every night we were away!
However, the best thing of all was that I spent nearly all of the trip on Pat's lap!
