"I'm the Queen of the World!"

I'm slowly catching on to this computer thing! Dave and Pat let it go to sleep on its own so all I do is give them enough time to go to bed and BAM, I'm on this thing! The only problem is...they now have a new computer. I've been practicing for more than a few nights to get this thing under control.

Anyway, I've finally made it to the big time! I now have the run of the entire house! Except when they go out they close a few doors so I can't go into a few rooms. That's OK because I am now part of the "elite" doggies that get to sleep on their owners bed! That's right, I have my own steps and my own blanky at the bottom of the bed. I get to move all around and snuggle on Pat and Dave's legs and I don't have to wake up Dave anymore to get his attention. I'm so comfortable and I can squeeze close to either one of them and feel nice and secure. Ah, what a dog's life.

Wow, I thought I had a lot of room in my 'nite, 'nite kennel!

I still get to ride in Darlene and Buzz' buggy and I make sure Dave knows when to take me out in it. Some nights it's really rainy so we don't get to ride in it but I always make sure Dave takes me out to see that it is raining so I don't miss out because he wants to go on the computer.

I'm still chasing squirrels and lizards. I don't seem to be catching them but I'm happy when I chase them up the tree.

I'm really waiting for Winston to come back. I can run circles around him, especially in small places. He can't go where I can. I also miss all the people that I visit with Dave and Pat. They are so much fun and I get so many more hugs and snuggles when everyone is here. I think they will be coming back soon, I hope!

Well, I have lots to do so I'll see you next time.

I'm a travelin' pup!

"I'm a travelin' pup
I've made a lot of stops all over the world
And in every port I own the heart
Of at least one lovely pooch!"
(Lyrics by me... and Ricky Nelson!)

Just after all our friends with doggies left for the summer, I began the strangest yet most memorable summer of my life (so far).

I was just beginning to settle in and adjust to the hot sidewalks on my feet and Pat and Dave took me to this place with lots of people moving around and I had no idea what I was about to experience.
At least they didn't take me to the Vets! Ugh! Anyway, this place was cool. Pat took me on this funny moving thing where people stand up. Then we walked into this long thing with lots of seats and people moving about getting into all the seats. Then, Pat stuffed me under her seat! Of all the nerve! I could feel this thing move and get louder. Then all of a sudden I felt like I was going up. After a few minutes, Pat (I kept my cool) lifted me up to her lap. The humility of being stuck under a seat! She put me on her lap and she opened my soft kennel and patted me and that helped a lot. Even the nice lady next to her patted me. I had no idea why she wouldn't take me out of my kennel. With all the funny noise and very little space for a pup to roam I think it was better I stayed in my kennel. Some time later I began to feel something was changing about this thing we were in. Then, once again Pat stuffed me under her seat! I don't like being under a seat like that. In a short time I felt this thud and heard lots of noise. Before I could bark, Pat picked me up and carried me out of this thing. Everything was strange to me. It seems like this place is similar but different than when I got on this thing. Wait, there is Darlene and Buzz! Oh wow, I'm in a happy place! But I don't see Dave. Oh well, I love to crawl all over Darlene and maybe Winston is here. Oh, wait a minute, we got into another car for a ride! What the??? So I did what I do all the time, I crashed on Pat's lap. All of a sudden we were stopping. Wait, I see a house. I can hear a familiar bark. It's Winston wow, this is going to be fun!

My guess is that I was in Winston's house and anything that  is his is mine!!! Oh boy, this is going to be a special vacation place. I investigated all of the house and found where Darlene sleeps. I know where I'll be spending most of my time! This house has something they call stairs. I had fun climbing them but going down was tricky for me. I thought my butt was going to go over my head a couple of times when I go down the steps head first. I thought I heard people laughing when I first went down the stairs. Maybe it was the way my butt was almost straight up in the air when I went down each step. I don't care, I was exploring! On second thought, I'm going to enjoy hangin' with Darlene and catch up on my nap time.

I really liked having my own window to keep a watchful eye for squirrels or other dogs! Top of the sofa was my domain! I'm Queen of the world!

For awhile I forgot all about Dave. I was having fun and doing lots of stuff but things were a little different without Dave scratching me or playing with me. Everyone paid lots of attention to me so I just made the best of it. Although, I must admit, everyone made sure I had the best seat/lap to get comfortable on and I barked at every thing! I guess you can say I made the best of being with all my friends.

I'd play with Winston and (don't tell anyone) but I sneaked lots of his food from his bowl. Pat took me for nice walks with all these new smells. I felt like I was in another world. I think it is called Indiana. Everyone I met was really nice to me but they talk funny!

Before I knew it Pat, Darlene and Buzz put me in the car again and we went for a ride. Do you have any idea where they brought me? Back to that busy place and on the long thing with lots of seats in it!
It seemed exactly like that thing I was moving in when I first came to this place.
After going through that same strange ride, Pat picked me up and walked me down this long place until I saw Dave!

Wow, I didn't know what was going on. Dave carried me and we got into the car and went for another ride. This time, they put me on the floor of a house and everything looked familiar. Wait, there were all my toys and blanket... I must be home! Pat, Dave and I played a little bit, gave me a treat and put me on my blanket and left me! What was that all about! I heard them say something about going to eat! That's great. Welcome home, Bye! Grrrrrrrr!

You know what though, I didn't really mind, I felt so comfortable being on my own furniture and blanket I took a nice nap.

Things got back to normal for me but after a week or so, little did I know I was in for another ride of my life.
I watched as Pat and Dave put things in big bags on the floor. They were even packing my things. What's going on here?

We were going for another ride. Little did I know it was going to be a two day ride. We stopped so I could go potty and stretch my legs. I liked that but I spent all my time on Pat's lap. (Actually, I didn't mind that.)

We got into this place that had some familiar smells. We were in a small house but the best part was that I can easily jump on the bed and Pat and Dave didn't mind! I thought I died and went to heaven!

Once Dave and Pat sat for a short time we got into the car again and this time the ride was very short.

They brought me into this building and a lady I was handed to was really excited to see me. At first she did seem familiar to me. I know! It was Becky the nice lady that brought me into this world. Wow! After meeting her we went off for a little while in this place called Kitchen Kettle and I met another nice lady called Debby. She smelled like candy! I think she makes something called fudge.

After meeting all these really nice people, Pat and Dave took me to Becky and Abner's house. I couldn't believe who I saw...it was my Mom! We didn't really know each other at first but we settled down and had some fun running all over their couch and floors.

I don't look too shocked, do I?

Golly, we really do look alike!

Wait a minute, I remember jumping all over this couch some time ago.

We ran around each other real fast.

That was fun but I'm ready for some me time. Come on Dave take me to see something.

Oh wow! I can't believe this. I've only seen these running away from me, and a lot bigger!

I can actually sniff this little guy out!

Whoa, it smells different down here!

This has been a fun day. I like getting to ride with the window open.

This was a fun visit. I got to see my Mom and Becky. Gee, I have to come back here some time.

We left PA heading for a place called Sunapee, New Hampshire. Dave and Pat's friends George and Judy live there with their dog Koda. Wow, I have never seen such a big dog. All she wanted to do was play! Normally, I love playing but I couldn't play with her! Her head is bigger than me!

Thankfully, we all went out to see some things... but she stayed home!
We had a good time with George and Judy, and even Koda but we soon left to go some place else.

OK, where am I now? I'm with Bill and Angela and I'm enjoying being in their back yard. I don't have to wear my harness or be on a leash, they have a big fence thing and my good friend Maggie and I get to run all over this grass area.

Did I say run all over this yard? Well, we kinda run! From my point of view I have to run to keep up with anyone who walks me!

They have this wood thing that we walk on in their yard. It's really different on my paws.

What a life! It's really nice in the sun. I don't know where I am but it is not as hot as I am when Pat and Dave take me out at home.

After spending lots of days with Bill and Angela I got to meet and have fun with Dawn, Ashley and "Little" Bill and other people who wanted to pat me. That was really nice.

Then, I watched as Dave and Pat put things back into their big bags and before I knew what was happening, we were driving again. Two more days in the car, stops to let me out I was kind of getting tired of all this long time in the car. But, you know what the best part of this entire trip was.....
I got to sleep on the bed with Pat and Dave nearly every night we were away!
However, the best thing of all was that I spent nearly all of the trip on Pat's lap!

Another Birthday and lots to talk about!

Wow! What a long time has gone by since my last story! That means I have lots to talk about. Where do I begin... Oh, I just had a birthday! Way back in May!

Again with the hat! I like my ears out so I can hear everything. I now have two of those things burning on my treats. Now let me at those treats!

Whoa! Something is going to make me sneeze. Must be the burning things.

What's all the fuss? Doesn't everyone have birthdays? Birthdays only confuse me. Pat put a big 2 on my birthday plate but I don't feel like I'm two. Sometimes Dave and Pat say I'm a "teenager." Whatever that means. I've even heard them say I'm 14 years old. Now that's confusing.
How old am I supposed to feel. I'm pretty quick on my feet and I can tree lots of squirrels. Everyone says I'm in good shape, so what gives with the difference between being 2 and 14 years old???
Anyway, I did have a great birthday. Pat gave me a really sweet cookie to celebrate but I only had a piece of it. It was really different tasting. I think I'll stick with my "nuggets", "chewy" and regular treats. Although, there are times when I get close to what Dave and Pat are eating and I really like the smells of what they eat. There must be a difference between doggie food and people food. I don't mind not eating people food as long as I can sit on their laps.

Since my last writing we've kinda gotten into the summer routine. Pat or Dave sometimes go to work and or the other stays with me and that's great! I have one or the other all to myself. I think all our friends, Winston, Darlene, Buzz, Angela and Bill went someplace for these hot days. Dave takes me on morning and evening long walks and Pat takes me on shorter walks but they're just as much fun. I like the leash that Dave has. I can walk way ahead of him and tell all the dogs walking to get out of my way! I'm sure all my friends will be back, I can't wait!

OK, enough of the kid's stuff. I've got some serious exploring to do.
Aha, sniff, sniff I think I know who's been here, and it isn't a squirrel.

Hold it, I think a squirrel passed by here.
 What was that!
 I know there's a squirrel close by....

Hmmmm, I don't see one but I'm sure there's one close by.

Dave's been taking me on "buggy" rides and I love them! I think the "buggy" belongs to Wisnton's Mom and Dad. They call it a golf cart. We get to go to a place Dave calls "target rich." I don't know what that means but there are squirrels on almost every tree!
Then we ride up to this beautiful grassy and hilly area. I get to run all around and look way out over things.

This picture is really neat. We were down next to the palm trees on the right. I think this is on a golf course. We ride up this tiny path road and it's really hilly.

Then we heard this funny noise over our heads and when we looked up this is what we saw! It made a funny loud noise.

There's really is no place like home. Here's my secret lookout in our house so I can keep watch for the squirrels. I can run from this lookout to the other room and jump on the couch to get a good view of the squirrels in the tree next to the house. I can get lots of exercise running back and forth.

Best of all is our mornings together. Pat and Dave have these chairs that I can easily jump up on and get really comfortable with Pat or Dave. Sometimes I can relax so much I just doze off....

...and sometimes not! Especially when Dave is trying to put something over on me!

Well, gotta go for now. I'll be back soon. I think I'm going on a trip! Pat set my carrier-crate out on the floor for me to go in and out of. I don't know what is in store for me but I went in and out of it... hey, I like it!

Finally, I get to stretch my paws!

Man, I've just got to learn to speak human talk! I'd tell Dave and Pat to let me on the computer in no uncertain terms! At least I got to the computer tonight. Dave finally got off it and I know Pat will be wanting to go on the computer later so I'll make this quick.

I've been enjoying lots of walks but I don't like how cold its been here. Dave and Pat are always putting these wraps on me when I go out. They call them, jackets! Right, I have several that have this stuff that makes them stick together but they really scare me when they take them off me. It sounds like someone is tearing me apart! I'm getting kind of used to them though. I begin to shake when I get cold. At least Dave and Pat notice that and they gave me this thing called a sweater.
I like it! And, it is nice and warm. I can wear it all day in the house.
It has diamonds on the back. I look really great in this but it really is weird trying to put it on. One day I got it off all by myself and Pat and Dave had no idea how I did it. I also like to scratch up against the wall with it on but Dave and Pat think I might scratch the wood with the diamonds.

Just the other day I had a ball watching about six squirrels running up and down the tree and on the grass in our back yard. Darlene was visiting with us and she said the squirrels are "twitter patting!" Whatever that means. With all their running around I had to run from all the windows to catch what they were doing. I had never seen so many squirrels. I wanted to get out and chase everyone of them.
This guy was teasing the daylights out of me.

I couldn't stand it. I needed to let off steam so I grabbed "Ginger!"

I really roughed Ginger up! Oh, and that blue "doggie" blanket is one of my new blankets. Wow, is it soft!

See, I told you I got really cold. Dave likes to work on wood in the garage but I thought it was too cold. He helped by giving me my own heater. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

But there is nothing like snuggling with Pat!

They took me for a hair cut and I didn't need my sweater this day. I got out and chased all the squirrels away
 Do you see any squirrels?
Nice hair cut though, don't you think?

 Yep, no squirrels!
Oops, I missed this guy but he's up the tree now so I can relax for now.

Ahhh, here's one of my "easy-on" jackets

Gee, for a little dog, I sure can make a big shadow!

Oh, Dave and Pat are also letting me stay out of my kennel when they go out now! I am the Queen of the house! I watch them from the front window when they leave. I can see them because the windows are just made for me to see out of them. I watch them until they go away and then I listen for awhile just in case they sneak back. But, after a few minutes I walk around to make sure there are no squirrels in the yard. Then, I head for the couch and my really soft blanket. I now have two soft blankets to cuddle into.

OK now I'm happy. I got to write a little bit and relive all my squirrel chases.

Now I think I would like to cuddle for awhile in one of my really soft blankets.

This is great, but I like snuggling with Pat wrapped up in her comfy robe best!
