I'm back at the keyboard again. Out where a friend is a friend......

Hi Everyone, Dave and Pat finally sorted things out with this move thing they have been doing all summer. Things are so different here. Lots of trees and lots of squirrels to chase up the trees. They don't stand a chance when I get them in my line of sight. It's a good thing Dave has this long leash otherwise I'd be catching them and shaking them like I shake my toys.

Here is one of my favorite "look outs."
I have another look out in the other room. When there are squirrels outside I can run from one lookout to another to keep my eyes on those pesky things. Dave is finding out that I'm pretty good at catching lizards also. They try to dive down into the grass but they have no idea who they're running from. My Yorkie "rat chasing" heritage kicks in and I can hear and smell them when they burrow into the grass. I just attack the buggers. The only problem is that Dave is always pulling me back. Hey, I have to keep my skills up.

Boy, you may have heard I just went through another frightening night at the Vets. Pat and Dave left me again and the next day I woke up with these metal things sticking in my right rear leg and I could hardly move my leg. They took me home and I was really excited but for some reason I couldn't react the way I usually do. I felt strange. My leg was sore and really stiff. At least Dave and Pat cuddled with me most of the time that night and the next day. It felt good being home. Come to think of it they have been really nice to me since they brought me home.

After a few days I learned that they are making me stay on the floor. All I want to do is jump into their chair or lap. They have these stairs for me to climb now. Where is the fun in that? My favorite couch they used to sit with me in their laps now has a fence, pillows and a big funny looking hat to keep me from jumping up on it. But I gave in and do what they want me to do, that couch is so comfy!

There are so many new things and places to explore where I live now. Dave takes me for long walks and there are so many other doggies and their owners to meet.
Dave also likes to take me for what he calls a "buggy ride." I think it belongs to my best friends Darlene and Buzz.  We ride all over and I love moving from Pat's side to Dave's side so I don't miss anything. I love starring down the squirrels as we drive past them. Although, I think Pat got tired of me going back and forth because she doesn't ride with Dave and I that much now. (I want to tell you secretly) I like being able to stand on the arm thingy on Pat's side. I can see much better and the wind is in my face.

The summer was very hot and very confusing for me. Dave and Pat made a mess in one house and then they put stuff in a different house. But, I like the different house better. I can see outside easier! Then, to top it off they have this person mess up my right rear leg! What a summer!
I'm waiting for Pat and Dave to take me someplace so I can get these metal things out of my leg. They are getting pretty itchy and they bother my tongue when I lick the sore that the Vet gave me.

Hmmmm, maybe it is time for some "pay back!"

Something new!

Boy, it's getting hot here. Luckily, Dave and Pat don't keep me out too long in the afternoon. But boy the mornings and evenings are great! First of all I still try to wake Dave up about two hours before he usually gets up. Then he has all he can do to keep me from waking Pat up. But once I get him up we might set on the couch for a little while then we head out. I love the morning thing we do. Dave plops my harness on the floor and I walk in circles around it until he picks me up and places my paws into the holes and wraps it around me. Then, I begin turning around and it drives him crazy while he tries to clip the leash on me. I've got to cool that a little, I think he's getting upset with me when I do that.

The mornings are the best! We now walk to this place where they have all the camping people and I get to chase squirrels, birds and lizards. Although, those lizards are everywhere it seems. Lately, after he takes me for a long walk there's something new and really fun we just started doing. He takes me on this two wheel thing in a brightly colored basket. I wouldn't mind but he ties me in the thing, but I can sit up and see things much better. Plus I get lots of wind in my face.
I got to show you this thing.
You may not be able to make them out but there are four really big birds that caught my eye.

It's really comfortable and I can look all around.

Then we headed into this (I think its called a) camping place. That's when I noticed this thing walking right toward us. Yikes, what a strange looking thing. I just had to take a closer look at it.

Dave put me on the ground and I got to get as close as I wanted to. I barked at it and all it did was make its head and paws (I think) go away. As soon as we rode away he stuck his paws and head out and began to walk away... not very fast either! This thing was no fun to chase. Dave called it a turtle, whatever that is.
Take that you funny looking thing!

Ahhhh, this is the coolest thing. Dave calls it "Lilly's bucket seat!"

I hear some of you go for bike rides now and then, well now we can get these baskets for all of your doggie friends and we can go with you guys! That would be awesome!

I'm One Year Old! Or is it seven years old, I'm confused!

My very first Birthday! Wow, I can't believe it. Where did seven years go! At least that's what Dave keeps saying... "Now that your seven Lilly, you're no longer a baby," he says!
But I really liked the party Dave and Pat gave me. They held me up to the table put this funny hat on my head and then put this big really good looking (and smelling) dog bone right in front of me. I couldn't keep away from it. Hmmmm, now I know why I had more "lap" time with Dave and Pat today.

Wow, nice layout!

I got to check the table setting out while Dave was getting the camera. But, here's all I could see.....

After I caught my breath I could focus.

I tell you I was "star struck!"

We had to take so many pictures, my hat didn't stay on.

I tried in vain to grab that bone... they took sooooo many pictures!

There, hat's on straight. I took my eyes off the bone long enough...."click," I think you're going to like this photo!

Now, time for a group photo...
...take 1... no good, hat fell.

Take 2.... darn hat fell! What do you expect, Dave was holding my chin!

Ahhhhhh! Happy Birthday to me, happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me!
Why won't this darn thing light so I can blow it out!

Even the local tree frog wished me a Happy Birthday! This little guy hung out by the front door and man he squawked so much and so loud we thought a house alarm was going off.

Now its time to get down to business.....eating my Birthday bone!

My new "do" and what is this white stuff!

Five hours for a hair cut! I was in panic mode all afternoon. Dogs coming and going. People coming and going and then a girl puts me on this table and runs this thing all over me. She soaks me and puts this bubbly stuff all over me, YUK! Then, I sit with this thing blowing wind on me. How much can a pup take? Here, here I'm going to be one year old pretty soon and I shouldn't have to go through such  indignation. I did everything I could to get Pat to take me home. I cried, shook, ears down, head down, what gives? They have no heart I tell you. Then, when I get home, Pat and Dave hold me to put this yucky stuff between my shoulders. Man, a puppy can only take so much!

Well, what do you think?

 Do you like this side.....

...or this side?
Hey, its not my fault that Dave can't hold my leash and take a decent photo of me!
Gee, all that posing made me tired!

When Dave works in the garage, I get to look out at the street and watch for critters or people. I actually have lots of fun. Sometimes the little lizards creep up to the screen and I freeze. Then, when they get really close I jump and scare them. Boy are they quick.

But, sooner or later I get bored. Then I bother Dave until he pulls out his chair and sets me on his lap.
That's really cool. I sit up higher and see things better.
I'm getting to understand why Dave and Pat call me a "lap" dog!

Later in the day, we went for a ride. It was really hot today. Dave and Pat took me to this place that looked really funny. I don't know what it was but the building was shaped like something I see people eating when it's hot out. Anyway, Dave took his spoon and put some of the white stuff on it and handed it to Pat. Then, Pat put the spoon right in front of me! I gave it a sniff and then touched it with my tongue. It was really cold but WOW, it tasted AWESOME! Now I know what people eat! I couldn't stop licking it. Then, I couldn't hold myself back, I bit it off the spoon. Dave even gave me another spoon of it. Wow, I'm in doggie heaven!

You bet, I licked the spoon clean. I even got to lick the empty cup that Dave had.

Wow, what a week. A hair cut, I got to taste something they call "ice cream" I can't wait for another hot day!
Today was a really fun day. I met some nice people.  I got to taste some ice cream and now a relaxing evening on Dave's lap watching for some unsuspecting critter to pass by.

Now I'm ready for a relaxing evening. It's been a great day.... later!

I'm trying to stay out of trouble!

Finally, I'm back on the keyboard! Boy, between Pat and Dave, lately I just can't seem to get any time on the computer. I'll try to get this out before they find out I'm on this thing.

They took me to that place again. You know the one with all these strange new people picking me up and putting me in this cage. I was a little tougher this time. I was in a quieter place and some of the people came by and said hi to me. When Dave came for me we had lots of fun in this place where Dave took my leash off and let me run around. Now that was really fun!
I've had another shot in my behind! I hope they're not bringing me to this Vet guy and girl to just stick a sharp thing in my butt! I didn't feel too good for a day or so but I guess its part of growing up.
On top of that, I was told I was five ounces overweight! What? I know Pat gives me healthy food and some really good treats.... wait a minute, come to think of it, I haven't had that many treats lately. Boy, they're good! Gee, they sure know how to trick me.

Speaking of growing up, I'm going to be one pretty soon! I wonder what I'll get for my first birthday. Maybe something from the table! Or something they call a "doggie-bag!" I'm not counting on it... they are doggie-health-nuts!

Anyway, I notice it's getting hotter down here. I still like the long walks Dave takes me on but boy I need a rest when I get back in the house. He takes my water bottle when we go and that helps but I must take twenty steps to his two! I'm not complaining. He uses this leash that lets me walk ahead and really search out lots of stuff. I've never seen so many new things. Crazy bugs, funny (and fast) lizards, birds of all kinds and these things called, "Squirrels." Hey, I'm bigger than they are but I'm pretty sure I can catch one... that is if Dave ever let's my leash go out when I dart after them. Man, can they climb trees! I recently chased one up the tree and that wise guy hung up-side-down and tried to stare me down!
Below, you can see how I chased him up the tree. I know you can't see him that well so I asked Dave to put this little picture in so you can see how he mocked me!

I was more than a little mortified but I'll get over it!

Hold it, something just moved... and the chase is on!

Darn, another one got away thanks to Dave and this darn leash!
Ya, I'm talking to you Dave!

Take my backside for that!

Well, last night I tempted fate. I take advantage of Dave and Pat when they are on the computer. Lately, I've taken to going to my bed while they are busy at the keyboard. They leave me alone and totally loose track of me. Well, last night I made my move. Dave hit the keyboard and I go into stealth mode.

This time I go under their big bed and took along "Ziggy." "Ziggy" is my newest toy and boy did I do a number on him!

I think it took me all of five or so minutes to rip that sucker apart!
Suddenly, Dave called to me. Uh oh! He got up and began looking for me. Couch...nope, my pen... nope, my bed... nope. He begins to call me louder. My mistake was a give away, I crawled out from under the bed. His curiosity got the better of him and he wondered what I was up to. I'm not sure if it was some of "Ziggy's" stuffing stuck to my mouth but he hit the floor and looked under the bed.

He reached in and pulled out some of "Ziggy!" Quickly, I did what any red-blooded household pet would do... I looked for another dog in the house!

For some reason, he didn't believe me. He said a whole bunch of stuff to me and I thought it best if I just let him have his say! I knew they just can't stay mad at me for too long.

Then he began to dig out the rest of "Ziggy" from under the bed and I thought it would be a good idea to help him.

Actually, I felt kinda bad for poor "Ziggy."

He was a good friend. I just couldn't help myself. He was just a little too easy to tear apart.

I'd like to tell you that Pat scolded me and sent me to my pen but she was

just showing Darlene how I go into my pen when they go out.

But to be honest, I really do miss "Ziggy!"

I do get around!

Ahhhh, life is good! Dave takes me for long walks. I get to roll in the grass, chew on fallen tree stuff and experience all kinds of new and neat things. I've starred down alligators, chased more than a few birds and nearly caught at least a hundred tiny lizards. What more can a dog ask for!

I find these dry twigs and carry them along my walk. Its sort of like my "badge of honor."

I'm getting the hang of this car-seat thing. Dave did something to it so it doesn't fold down when I stand on the top edge of it. I get to see things a lot better now. But, things pass by me so fast I can't see them that good.

Dave was playing with some wood the other day and I got to sit in his lap and check it out. Oh boy, the wood smells really good. I'd like to sink my teeth into this soft stuff but he always pulls me away when I get too close. Its not fair that he gets to play with these pieces and I don't. I'll just settle for the corners of Pat and Dave's furniture.

I'm really good and "hunting" all the funny animals down here. I don't know what this thing is but I've "flushed" out a bunch of them already. But this one is out in the daytime! I've only seen these things at night. And, it's much more fun finding them at night. Dave cannot see them and I drag Dave right up to them before he can see them and .... surprise!

These things are anti-social! They don't pay any attention to me. I know, the next time I'll try my "jump and pounce" routine on them!

I just got to meet Alice. She's a friend of Jack's. She was really excited to see me. She seems to know all about us doggies. I think she has two doggies. I'd like to meet and play with them. She calls them "Huskies." I wonder how big they are. I bet I can run circles around them.

Ah, it doesn't get any better than this! Hugs, squeezes, all this attention, if this is a dog's life give me more!

Wow! Another surprise, Winston! Dave walked me across the street and there was Buzz walking my buddy Winston! What a day. Winston is really cool. I can get away with all kinds of stuff with him.
I can take his toys away from him, hide were he can't get me and make him growl really loud! He scared me at first but he's a push-over. I've even ripped a few of his toys apart and he doesn't even bark at me. Winston doesn't even bother me when I jump into Buzz or Darlene's lap.

One thing about Winston is that he is really heavy. Maybe that's why people like it when I sit in their laps.

Till next time....Lilly!
