My Favorite Hunting Grounds

Hi Everyone,
I've been enjoying all my daily walks with Dave and Pat and guarding the house when Dave and Pat go out. But, I miss having a doggy friend around once in a while. Just the other day we took a ride to this camping place (I think it's called Lake Magic) where Winston lives but Dave and Pat didn't go inside so I don't think he was there. We did get to sit with Jack for a little while. I think Jack is the person who brings Alice here once in a while. Alice is really nice and likes dogs. I know she likes me better than any other dog because she really gets excited when she sees me. I also got to meet Rico and Angie. They were nice but all they wanted to do was talk to Dave, Pat and Jack. I heard that we are having a couple visitors in a few days and I heard they have a dog named "Lucy." I hope she can keep up with me! ...and she learns really fast that I'm the boss!

Oh, I really want to tell you about my favorite places to hunt for lizards. Dave calls it my "hunting ground." I know all the places the little lizards like to climb or hide in and on. Darn they are quick. Sometimes Dave even helps me by pointing to or shaking the twig they are on.

I've learned that the lizards like to walk all over these plastic things in the ground. They have holes in them and I can sniff them out. Most of the time I find them on the top of these things and I go around until they make a move for me to catch them but they always seem to get away. They are really fast. I have not caught one yet.

Mail boxes are my next favorite hunting place. There are so many mail box posts around the houses I have all I can do to keep all the lizards off of them.

But this area is the best place I've found to hunt lizards. It's in the shade and has lots of bushes the lizards like to sit on just waiting for me to give them a little excitement in their boring daily routine.

I really like this tube thing sticking up. The little lizards like to go down inside really fast when I stand on my hind legs and try to catch them.

But, this is the best of all hunting place. There are so many places for the lizards try to hide when I'm around.

These long skinny twigs are the best! I sneak up to them and can see the little buggers trying to hide from me. They really are fun to try to see on these twigs. I think the lizards can change color to make it harder for me to find them.

It didn't take me long to figure out how to stand up on my hind legs and push the branch with my front paws to make them move or jump out of the plant.

After I check out all my favorite hunting grounds, Dave often times takes me to the most fascinating lizard hiding place I know, the garden hose on the side of our house! I get so excited when Dave walks me up the hill in the back of the house. I see that hose and I can't wait to get there. I'm on the hunt! I start wagging my tail and can't wait for Dave to move the hose and make the lizards move so I can pounce.

It's usually around noon or the middle of the day when Dave takes me hunting. I think it has to do with how hot it is. We go to my shady hunting ground and then back to the house.

My day consists of waking Pat and Dave up and then Dave takes me for a long walk. That's my official "meet and greet" people walk. Everyone knows me (funny, most of them don't have a clue what Dave's name is). I get all the women to go ga-ga! They can't wait to let me sniff their hand and say hi. The guys could care less. I don't mind, I just ignore them. Then, later in the cooler time of the day, Dave will take me for another long walk. Lately, we've been walking with Phoebe and Nash and their owners, Sharon and Bill. Then, at the end of the day I'm usually pretty tired. One more quick potty walk and I call it a day!

And that's my day. I guess I have a pretty important job making sure I get Pat and Dave up and keeping the squirrels and lizards out of our neighborhood.

I take my responsibilities very seriously.

Finaly! I get a chance to get on the computer.

A big Lilly hello to all my friends out there. It's been so long that I've had to relearn how to get the computer started (dang passwords). I even forgot where I hid my password in the house! Luckily, I stumbled onto it while chasing one of my toys around.

Anyway, I'm tuned in, a year older, three to be exact!  a pound heavier and ready to paw this keyboard!
Here's my third birthday party with my new toy, "Squirrel."
I guess that makes me 28 according to the doggie age chart below!

Except for sitting in a car (on Pat's lap thankfully) for over 3,000 miles, this summer was really exciting. Really hot, but exciting! I'm teaching Dave when to pick me up on those hot walks. He's got my signs down pretty good. He's so easy to train!

Anyway, you know my buddy Winston went home, but I'm making the best of it. I just pester Pat and Dave more. Yea, Winston and I get along just great.  Sometimes he lets me lead....

...and sometimes I let him lead.

We like to check out the same things...

And sometimes we just watch out for each other.

I'm still chasing squirrels and lizards. They're no match. I let them get up the tree before I get too close. That way I get to chase them over and over again. As for the lizards, they're quick but they don't stand a chance when I catch them trying to hide in the grass. I'm so good at hunting them down. I know their scent and I can hear them in the grass. It's funny though, just when I pounce, I feel a tug on my leash and I never seem to "finish the job!" I think Dave has something to do with that.

OK time for a few photo updates....

Here's a classic! Me with long hair. Geesh, I'm rough and tumble. I need short hair to be able to hunt.

As you know we traveled to a place called Peabody. It's up north someplace and we stayed with Bill and Angela and their doggie, Maggie. Maggie is a little older than me but she is real nice to me. I get to take all of her toys out to play with. But, sometimes she takes mine and hides them.

I'd have to say I got to do something at Bill and Angela's that I never get to do. That's go outside without my harness or leash. They have a nice yard that has a fence all around it. I can go all around and Dave or Pat will just watch me. It's great! I also got to sit in the sun and just relax. Gee, I can't sit in the sun here in Florida. At first, Dave and Pat were a little concerned about letting me outside without any harness...

But, after I reassured them I'd be ok they let me out on my own (so to speak).
Oh boy, that sun feels great!
 I could just....... zzzzzzz

Hold it, I just heard something.

Ah heck, this is just too comfortable to bother chasing anything.

I think Dave already told you I got to see my Mom, Haley and her owner, Becky. I'm really nervous when I see my Mom. I get really upset when people and doggies come up to me really fast. Sometimes I growl at people and doggies when they do that. I get scolded by Dave or Pat but I like my "space!"
We look like we could be twins. But, I'm thinner.
Angela had some really great blankets to snuggle into. This was my favorite one. I could curl up in it and shut out all the other things going on.

I've been having a lot of fun walking with my new friends who live just up the street. We walk in the evening so it's not too hot. Sometimes I like to fake that I'm hot so I can ride in the golf cart that Joe and Beverly has.
Sometimes I have to share it with Nash and Phoebe!

Speaking of curling up, I think my paws have had just about enough on the keyboard.
I guess I'll just head for my "perch" and say so long for now, but I'll keep an eye out for you!

I'm Back! Hi Everyone!

WOW! I have been so busy running around with Winston and keeping Dave, Pat and Darlene happy, where do I begin? Well, first off I just came back from the Vet. YUK! I start shaking the minute I get in the car. Actually, every time I get into the car I think I'm going to the Vet! Well, they gave me a shot and it made me feel yucky. Funny though, I got Pat and Dave all shook up! (Pay back!) I snapped out of it when Dave took me outside to my favorite hose on the side of the house where the lizards like to hide. I immediately forgot about how I felt and jumped on that little bugger. I think Dave thought I was faking all this time.

They were all concerned when I jumped on the scale and found out Dave and Pat are feeding me too much! I've ballooned to six pounds. Egad! That's it, I'm going back to the low-fat kibbles and exercising more. To think about it, I should be able to sweat the extra weight off easily. The summer heat is here and I'm so close to the pavement the extra pound should be evaporating before my eyes!
Pat and the Doctor also said something about cleaning my teeth soon and I'm supposed to be sedated what ever that means. Gee, I don't like going to the Vet. I'll let you know what that's all about in my next Blog post.

I've got a few pictures to show you.
Winston and I have been having some great walks and sniffs to remember.
Below I just "treed" a squirrel.

Winston is really easy to walk with... he lets me lead!

Winston taught me how to sniff the bushes... shhhhhh! Don't tell Pat.

Every now and then I let Winston lead. He told me it's a guy thing.

Boy, sometimes you really find a treasure of smells on the pipes around here... shhhhh, don't tell pat.

Winston taught me a lot about sniffing. I think I can find my way home easily.

These pictures are from several walks we take. Dave likes to take us a different way each walk.
I like that. I can find so many things to check out.

Ah, the golf cart path to the golf course. This is cool, but we have to wait for any golf carts. I guess we're not supposed to use this path.
Hold it! We've been here before. Gee, I thought Dave was trying to trick us.

Pat and Dave have let me grow my hair out now that I'm 28 (in dog years). Us Yorkies age differently than the other dogs. I just turned 3 (in people years).

The only thing I like about the silly bow is that my hair stays out of my eyes. Although I get so many "puppy" comments from all the people I meet and I like that.
It's funny, all the people I meet walking know my name but they don't know Dave's. I'm also getting to know lots of other friendly dogs. I'll try to get some pictures of them on our walks.

It's really funny. I drive Dave crazy... all I have to do it sit in a cute pose or look cute and he's off to get the camera. Boy, I've got him trained.

Well gang, I finally beat Dave to the computer.
Now that I've put out my Blog first I think I'll take a nap.
Oh, by the way this is my "Eagle's perch!"
I can see everything people are doing when I snuggle in the pillows.
It's really fun to play with Dave and Pat.

But, what they don't know is that I can sleep with my eyes open! See......
Till next time everyone!

Wow! I'm posting again... so soon!

What did I do to deserve this? Dave even let me type on his lap. Anyway, here's my latest....

It warmed up really nicely yesterday. Winston and I had a couple of great walks in the sun and I didn't have to wear my sweater.

Winston and I walk pretty good together. Sometimes I lead and sometimes he leads.

Hey, walk in the crosswalk! I'm always telling Winston to walk in the crosswalk. He's from this place called Lake Magic and they doesn't have any crosswalks there. Besides, he says everyone is old there and they don't move fast. They also have to drive wicked slow. Cool!

I was here first. Darn, we always find the same thing to sniff. I think I'm going to growl at Winston.
See Winston, I told you it's better to walk in the crosswalk.

This is great. Winston and I have figured out a way to twist our leads to tick off Dave. Just when he untwists us we look at each other, wink and cross over one another again.
OK Winston, I know it's your turn to lead.

Mmmmmm, what is that. I don't have so far to bend over to sniff things but this darn grass is so high I have to make jump steps to get back on the sidewalk.

Hold it, I think I was at this same spot yesterday. Dave and Pat try to fool us by taking us different ways each walk. But, it ain't working!

 Squirrel?

Lilly to Winston, hello! Winston's old so I like to whisper to make him think he's hard of hearing.
Ah, what a life. I'm the Queen of the world!

Winston and I had fun laughing at the silly birds standing under the shower!
You'd think they know when to come in out of the rain!

And this was just one of our walks. We never get sick of our walks. Me and Winston are a team. Between twisting our leads, sniffing everything in sight and watching Dave and Pat pick up after us this is great. What more could you ask for? ...and we get to do this four or five times a day!

See you next time!
Lady Lilly of Lancaster and Sir Winston Von Rolph

Eghads, that sounds funny!

Hey, what are you guys laughing about? These are our serious names!
